Welcome to the Zach Goodyear Photography Blog!

I regret to say that after 8 great years, I have made the difficult decision to close the doors of Zach Goodyear Photography. It's something I'm still passionate about, but with a growing family and my main career and love of real estate, I am running out of free hours in the day.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer, please don't hesitate to contact one of my fellow photographers who are great: Rich Kalonick or Ryan Dunnewold.

If you are looking for a portrait photographer, please feel free to contact Sandy Burr.

Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Pearce and Greg's New Orleans Wedding

I shot an out of town wedding in New Orleans a few weeks ago for some close family friends. Pearce, the bride, was stunning. She prepped for the day at the New Orleans Country Club and from there, took a limo to Trinity Episcopal Church where the ceremony was held. I love New Orleans. Growing up there was a very special treat, but one of the many fun things about the city is all of the pomp and circumstance that goes around big events. There aren't many places where you can secure a police escort - but Pearce did!

The ceremony was lovely and the church was filled with tons of friends and family from New Orleans and Chicago, where Greg is from. After the ceremony, the bride and groom were whisked away to the New Orleans Country Club for the reception. We made sure to get some photos under the Live Oaks, some of which are several hundred years old around the club. Upon entry, guests walked under a garland of baby's breath into the gorgeous main ballroom where they were greeted with fantastic music and white flowers and good company all around.

The desserts were breathtaking. Pearce wanted the decor to be white, so she had a dessert table with everything from white macaroons and white M&Ms to white powdered donuts and white marshmallows - it was an elegant and FUN display (and tasty too)! The groom's cake was a replica of Wrigley Field that had the guests in awe.

Aside from the wedding, the big news of the day was the Saints vs. 49ers playoff game. Nobody could have guessed that the game would be that Saturday when the wedding planning took place, so like good Saints fans, the Bride and Groom arranged for a TV to be brought into a corner of one of the reception rooms where guests took breaks to check the score. Despite the loss, there was still plenty of fun and at the end of the party, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears streamers were brought out for everyone to Second Line with.

All in all, it was a magnificent event and it was an honor to shoot. Thanks to John Hudetz for assisting me throughout the day and for helping to capture some great images.
