Welcome to the Zach Goodyear Photography Blog!

I regret to say that after 8 great years, I have made the difficult decision to close the doors of Zach Goodyear Photography. It's something I'm still passionate about, but with a growing family and my main career and love of real estate, I am running out of free hours in the day.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer, please don't hesitate to contact one of my fellow photographers who are great: Rich Kalonick or Ryan Dunnewold.

If you are looking for a portrait photographer, please feel free to contact Sandy Burr.

Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Corporate Headshots: A few examples

I do a fair amount of headshots for companies around town, but I don't usually post them. This time I figured I'd post a few from a recent shoot to show how it's possible to get several different looks in a short time at one location. We were near an office downtown and spent probably 45 minutes shooting. We did some inside the office and some outside. Here are a few favorites from the shoot. Most of it was shot with natural light with the exception of the of the shot of him leaning towards the camera with his hands on the desk. That was shot with one small flash and an umbrella.

Wow. No other words.

My studio manager found this on YouTube and sent to me. I've seen plenty of weddings and have seen quite a bit of wild dancing in my day, but I'm not sure anything has topped this. If you haven't seen this yet, sit back and enjoy!

Little Hunt comes home!

Some good friends of mine just had their first little boy and couldn't be more proud. They live in a beautiful old Victorian home, so I wanted to capture a little bit of that in some of the photos. Baby Hunt was great throughout the shoot and couldn't take his eyes off the camera! Here are a few of my favorites, the rest can be seen and ordered by clicking here.

Kevin and Therese Tie the Knot!

It's finally here! Sorry to be so delayed in getting these out, but things have been a little nutty lately and it's set me back a bit. Therese and Kevin were referred to me by my studio manager, Erica, and were a great couple to work with! They met at Trivia Night at the Flying Saucer which, if you haven't played trivia there, is quite a load of fun. From what I hear, it was pretty much a perfect match from that point forward. Therese went to Vanderbilt, so they felt it only prudent to have their wedding reception there.

They were married at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. After that, we did something I haven't ever done at a wedding before, but had a ball doing it. The guests went off to do their own thing for a few hours while the Bride and Groom and the wedding party (along with me and my 2nd photographer) jumped in a giant limo and went to various places around Vanderbilt's beautiful campus for photos. After about an hour, we decided it was getting warm and was time for a few buckets of cold beer at Satco. They were the hit of the crowd on the deck that afternoon. Granted, half of the crowd were their own wedding guests! All in all, it was a great pit stop that made for some very fun photos!

After Satco, we wandered around campus a bit more and then headed over to the Vanderbilt Student Life Center for the reception. Therese is a teacher, so she gave everyone a quiz they had to solve in order to find out at what table they were sitting. Very clever! Everything was beautiful, from the cake to the flowers to the bride herself.

Congrats to both of you! Below is a slideshow of some of my favorites. The rest of the photos can be seen and ordered by clicking here. You can click on the ALL PHOTOS folder or just look at sub folders for different times of the day. Enjoy!

Welcome to the world, Baby Cian!

One of my past clients just had another baby boy and signed up for my 1st Year series, so we started with a newborn shoot on Sunday morning. Cian (pronounced Kee-an) is a handsome little guy who was born about 2 weeks ago. He was very well behaved and his brother and parents seem to be loving his company!

Below are a few of my favorites. The rest can be seen here. Enjoy!
