Welcome to the Zach Goodyear Photography Blog!

I regret to say that after 8 great years, I have made the difficult decision to close the doors of Zach Goodyear Photography. It's something I'm still passionate about, but with a growing family and my main career and love of real estate, I am running out of free hours in the day.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer, please don't hesitate to contact one of my fellow photographers who are great: Rich Kalonick or Ryan Dunnewold.

If you are looking for a portrait photographer, please feel free to contact Sandy Burr.

Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Promo shots for local musician

I had the opportunity to do some promo shots for a local musician yesterday who has some great work. Keep an eye out for him, Joseph Logsdon. We wandered around downtown Nashville and went into a few buildings to get a variety of different looks. Here are a few of my favorites from the session. Enjoy!

Charlotte is 6 months old!

I did a photo session with baby Charlotte on Sunday for her 6 month pictures. Her mom Sarah suggested we leave the confines of the house which was a great idea, so we met up at Dees Park (aka Dragon Park) in the Hillsboro-West End neighborhood and wandered around for an hour or so finding lots of good spots. Charlotte was FULL of personality! We had a great time and she gave me some fantastic expressions and was all about showing off her two little teeth. Here are just a few of my favorites, including a full-on wink which was too cute! She knows how to work the camera :). We found one cool photo opp in this giant tube that was part of a playground. All was well until another kid started screaming at the other end of the tube. Poor little Charlotte wasn't sure what was happening, but she was very sure she didn't like it and made a great face.

Click here to see a story line of those shots and others of her showing off some cute poses for the camera.

Portrait Session for Katlyn

I headed out past Murfreesboro on Sunday to do a portrait session for Katlyn. I had done some corporate work for her mother who called me afterwards to ask if I could come out and get some shots of her daughter before she grew up anymore. I spent a couple of hours with Katlyn and her family at her boyfriend Mason's family farm. We had a great time getting all sorts of different shots around the farm. She also wanted to get a few with Mason which turned out great. While Mason wasn't in the photos, he was put to hard work doing anything he could to keep Katlyn smiling. Katlyn is a beautiful girl with amazing eyes and a very sweet personality. Thanks so much for letting me work with you! If you have any friends who want to do something similar, feel free to pass along my info.

Below are a few of my favorites. The rest can be viewed and ordered by clicking here.

Rhine River Cruise

My wife, Martha, and I had the great pleasure of traveling to Europe this summer with her mother, her sister, and her sister's fiance. We took a river cruise up the Rhine River from Switzerland, through France and Germany, and ending in the Netherlands. It was amazing! We saw scenery that was breathtaking, enjoyed great wine, toured a castle, learned to speak a little German and Dutch, brushed up on our French, drank great beer, celebrated 2 birthdays, met fun people, and are all ready to go back tomorrow! The weather was rainy and chilly for part of the time, but it didn't stop of from having a ball. We traveled with Uniworld which was a fantastic experience, one I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a river cruise.

Here are a few of my favorites as well as a slideshow at the end of the stack. Enjoy!

Saturday afternoon lighting on my dogs

Every now and then I'll do a personal project for the sake of it. I had the urge today to break out the camera equipment and play with a little non-traditional lighting on my dogs to come up with some slightly abstract shots. Here's how they turned out. Thanks Abbo and Brown Dog for helping out and being such good models!

Engagement Session with Stephanie and Andy

I spent a few hours last Sunday with Stephanie and Andy, a great couple that has hired me to shoot their wedding in September. We started out at their house where we got some fun shots with their dog, took a break to escape the heat and kick back with a beer, then headed to Hillsboro Village. We spent a little while there wandering around, got hit up by a pretty smooth talking bum, and made our way towards downtown. We stopped near Satco and then Union Station and when we arrived downtown, we headed up onto the Shelby Pedestrian Bridge which was more crowded than I've ever seen it. Despite being surrounded by a bunch of teenagers (one of which thought it as a brilliant idea to climb up onto one of the steel suspension pieces dangling over the river), we had a good time and were able to capture some cool shots. All in all we had a great time and you can tell that these guys are going to be a great couple together!

Here are some of my favorites. I can't wait for the wedding in just a few more weeks!
