Welcome to the Zach Goodyear Photography Blog!

I regret to say that after 8 great years, I have made the difficult decision to close the doors of Zach Goodyear Photography. It's something I'm still passionate about, but with a growing family and my main career and love of real estate, I am running out of free hours in the day.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer, please don't hesitate to contact one of my fellow photographers who are great: Rich Kalonick or Ryan Dunnewold.

If you are looking for a portrait photographer, please feel free to contact Sandy Burr.

Thanks for your understanding and patience!

The furry Christmas Gift for my Father-in-law

My father in law's wife wanted to get her husband a cat for Christmas, so my wife and I helped do the espionage work - picking the cat up from the shelter, holding him at her mom's house for a few days before Christmas, and then suprising him Christmas day with this GIANT furry beast.

He truly is a sweet guy though. Banjo is his name and he weighs 17.6 pounds. Wow!

Oscar and the Fake Christmas Tree

I'm feeling a little lame this year, but since we won't be here for Christmas, we didn't get a tree. Today I was outside putting some lights up, however, and Martha and I got a little bit of a bug to do something inside as well. So, we went out to the shed and dug out an old small, pretty ugly, Target variety fake tree. We decorated it with a few ornaments and some lights, and the minute Martha laid down the tree skirt, she walked out of the room and Oscar the cat decided he had found a new home for the holidays.

Hopefully he's eaten enough this year that he'll think twice before trying to climb up this one. Enjoy the last week before Christmas!

Welcome Home Baby Mimi!

This morning I was so excited to get a chance to photograph little Mimi who just came into the world right before Thanksgiving. She's the brand new daughter of a great family friend from growing up and she could not be more beautiful!

I look forward to many more visits and lots of photos in the future! You can see a sneak peak of some of my favorites below and you can see the rest by clicking here.

Hangin' with Friends

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending some much needed R&R with our friends and neighbors Will and Becca, along with their awesome son Davis. We had a good time catching up and I look forward to doing it more often!

Here are a few snaps of them with Davis. The 2nd to last one of Becca laughing is a series not to be missed on the link below. This was just after Davis got hungry and tried to eat her finger for dessert! To see all of the photos, click here.

Photography Workshop

I spent yesterday with some amazing photographers at the home of Nathan and Amber Holritz of Holritz Photography in Chattanooga. Nathan spoke along with the owners of KISS Wedding Books, the album company I use, who are also awesome photographers. After lunch at the local Sushi place, we finished up the day with Mike Larson, world renowned wedding photographer, who had some great inspiration to give.

Below is a shot of Mike talking about his shooting style.

Updated Blog

As you can tell, I have done a little facelift on the blog. I've added a couple of new features including a navigation bar at the top and the ability to post LARGER photos!

Here's a shot of my mother's dog when I was up visiting her last week for my fake Thanksgiving. Have a Happy Turkey Day!

Denay and Lee's Rockin' Wedding at Cedarwood!

I had more fun than I've had in a while shooting Denay and Lee's wedding last weekend! It was a lively crowd and even though it was freezing outside, it was easy to stay warm inside with all of the dancing going on. Lee is a drummer for a country music artist and Denay can belt out some tunes as well, so the party really got started when Lee took a seat at the drums and Denay jumped on the mic! You couldn't help but have a good time, especially with the infectious smiles that these two have!

The wedding and reception was held at Historic Cedarwood which was an incredible venue. If you're a bride reading this and you haven't checked out Cedarwood as an option, it's definitely worth a look! The grounds were meticulous and since we had to move the wedding inside due to the extreme temperature shift, we were also able to experience first-hand the charm and beauty of the interior portion of the historic home. You can see their blog post on the wedding here.

Everybody loves getting compliments, including me, so I thought I'd share the nice note Denay sent to me today after returning from their honeymoon cruise.

Hey Zach!!
How are you? I just wanted to tell you how incredibly impressed everyone (including myself & Lee) was with you guys at our wedding. Everyone I have talked to said they thought you were just a joy to be around. Thank you for helping to make our day perfect. I cannot wait to see the pictures!!!!
-Denay
